Thanks to all who attended our appreciation event!!  It was so nice to see so many of you and get a chance to express our gratitude for all you do!

A Special Thanks to our Volunteer Program sponsor, BWFA!

It was a full-house at BINGO this year and we had a blast! Thanks to everyone who came out to play; and thank you to all of the BINGO volunteers, sponsors, and donors who made this event possible. Together we raised (drumroll please) nearly $18,000 to support Neighbor Ride and the older adults we serve!

The Neighbor Ride car magnets are one of our biggest recruiting tools. Every 3rd Tuesday of the month will be Magnet Day. We ask all drivers to display the magnets on their cars. The next Magnet Day is Tuesday, June 20th!

We recently shared information with our Neighbor Ride clients regarding increased phone and internet scam activity.  Here are some resources to pass on to family and friends:

Andre Lingham, founder and president of the Center for Elder Justice and Education, Inc, is also offering a FREE presentation at Busboys & Poets on Thursday, June 15th, which is recognized as World Elder Abuse Day. Some of you may recall that prior to becoming president of CFEJAE, Andre served as the Senior Citizen Liaison for the Howard County Police Department and made several presentations at our volunteer updates.

Title: Financial Exploitation: Frauds and Scams Targeting Older Adults

The Presentation Will Cover:

  • Common scam calls such as the foreign lottery scam, online romance scam, grandparent/family emergency scam ect.
  • Power of Attorney Exploitation
  • Family Member Exploitation
  • Basic prevention and security measures
  • Q&A session

This FREE event is open to everyone. Registration is required. Free raffle prizes – tickets will be distributed at check-in.
