Inclement Weather Reminder
|
A big warm thank you to all who have handled the recent snow and cold weather with common sense and good attitudes!!
Here’s a quick review of the Inclement Weather Policy.
To ensure the safety of our drivers and passengers, either the driver or the passenger may cancel a ride.
|
- If you are willing to drive, always contact the passenger the day of the ride to confirm that he/she still wants to go. Be sure to ask if their steps, and sidewalks have been cleared.
- If your ride destination is a school, senior center, library, or government office, make sure you contact the facility to confirm they are open.
- The status of 50+ centers’ buildings can be found by calling 410-313-7777.
- If the ride is canceled, please get in touch with the office by phone or email.. The clients won’t be charged for canceled rides.
|
Note: Neighbor Ride does not follow the Howard County School or Government cancellation policies and the staff has remote work capabilities to keep the office open.

Driving is Tax Deductible
|
Drivers can deduct volunteer driving expenses on income tax (14 cents/mile on your federal taxes and 54.5/mile on Maryland taxes, if you itemize).
You can download a spreadsheet from the driver portal by visiting Ride History, editing the dates, and clicking on the blue export button.
Please call the office if you have any questions!

Magnet Day- February 17th
|
Our referral data shows that the car magnets are a wonderful recruitment tool for Neighbor Ride.
On the 17th of each month, we ask that all volunteers display their magnet on the cars throughout the day. Thank you.
