Volunteer Survey Results Part 3:

What Makes Volunteering Rewarding for You?

When we asked what you find most rewarding about volunteering with Neighbor Ride, your responses in the Volunteer Survey told us a lot about what matters to you:

At the top of the list was flexibility of schedule. You appreciate being able to volunteer when it works for you. Making a difference in someone’s life came next, followed closely by supporting the community. Many of you also told us you value the opportunity to meet new people and build meaningful connections along the way.

Thank you for choosing to spend your time helping your neighbors. We’re so glad you’re along for the ride!

Here’s a word cloud of more of your responses, so you can see what your fellow volunteers love about volunteering with Neighbor Ride!

Who better to help shape our new app than the volunteers who will use it? Our first volunteer cohort recently met with Bruce and a consultant to share their insights and help guide its development. Many thanks to Brian Auger, Andrea Covington, Mary Kelty, Ray Lischner, Dave Trossman, Chelsy Tyler, and Reggi Veatch. We’re so grateful for their time, ideas, and valuable perspective!

Driver Ray Frappoli and client  Margaret L. = miles, smiles, and great company!

Ray has volunteered with Neighbor Ride since 2022 and has done more than 50 rides a year for 3 years running! Now that’s a winning streak. Thank you, Ray!

This month’s “Meet Our Team Monday” on social media featured our newest member of the team!

Clockwise from left: Neighbor Ride joined the Office on Aging & Independence’s Transit 101, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, welcomed military families with Blue Star Families of Howard County with information about our Driving Heroes Program, and we had a perfect day for Walktober. It’s been a busy month connecting with our community!

The Wizard and the Wolf: A Halloween Family Concert

October 31, 2026

10:30am, Jim Rouse Theatre

Step into a world of musical magic this Halloween! With help from Dance Connections and Greg Jukes, the Orchestra will bring the thrilling adventure of Peter and the Wolf and the spellbinding themes of Harry Potter to life. Costumes are encouraged, so throw on your finest wizard robes or favorite animal gear and stick around after the final note for a festive trick-or-treating trail.

Heads up, drivers! The southbound exit and entrance ramps from Broken Land Parkway to Route 29 are still closed, with no completion date announced. Please plan your route accordingly.

On the 17th of each month, we ask all volunteers to display their Neighbor Ride magnet on their car throughout the day. Thank you!

In honor of our November 17 birthday, the Neighbor Ride Board has pledged a $5,000 matching gift! Every online donation made in the month of November will be matched dollar for dollar until we reach the $5,000 match. Gifts will go twice as far to help older adults stay connected and independent.

Support Neighbor Ride through a car donation! It’s easy, and we accept all vehicles of any age or condition. Anyone can donate, no matter what state you live in!
