Facebook Fundraisers: A Small Step with Big Impact
If you’ve ever wanted to support a cause you care about — whether for a birthday, in honor of someone special, or simply because you feel inspired — Facebook Fundraisers make it incredibly easy. In just a few clicks, you can rally friends and family around a mission that matters to you.
Board member Jenna Crawley shares her experience:
“A Facebook fundraiser on the behalf of Neighbor Ride seemed like a great way to connect my network with Neighbor Ride’s mission. My goal was to share about this amazing organization and the critical gaps Neighbor Ride helps to fill.
I hoped that by sharing the mission, it would resonate with my friends, many of whom have had personal experiences with aging, and because the cause is relatable, compel them to get involved.
I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to set up and that through a few clicks, over $200 was raised. I highly recommend using our social media networks to build awareness about causes we care about and to share how these same networks can make a difference locally.”
Here’s a quick guide to get your Facebook Fundraiser up and running:
1. Go to the Fundraisers Section
Open Facebook and look for “Fundraisers” in the left‑hand menu (or search “fundraisers” in the app). Click Create a Fundraiser to get started.
2. Choose Your Nonprofit
Browse the list or type the name of the organization you want to support. Once selected, Facebook will automatically pull in the nonprofit’s details for your page.
3. Set Your Goal and Timeline
Pick a fundraising goal—big or small—and choose an end date. Don’t worry about perfection; you can adjust these later if your campaign takes off.
4. Personalize Your Story
This is the heart of your fundraiser. Add a photo and write a few sentences about why this cause matters to you. A sincere, personal message goes a long way in inspiring others to give.
5. Share and Invite
Once you hit Create, share the fundraiser on your timeline and invite friends to donate. People are far more likely to donate when they see it directly from you.
6. Keep the Momentum Going
Post updates, thank donors publicly, and share your progress. The more activity your fundraiser has, the more people will see it and join in.
We Need Your Help
Support Neighbor Ride through a car donation! It’s easy, and we accept all vehicles of any age or condition. Anyone can donate, no matter what state you live in!
